| Carl Samson is an american impressionist artist and repeat winner at the National Portrait Competition, winning both the Grand Prize and the Distinguished Achievement awards. In 1996, he was one of five American plein air painters invited to work with the Union of Russian Artists in Moscow. In June of 2000, he lectured and demonstrated at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York as the American Society of Portrait Artists' Distinguished Guest of Honor. In summer 2009, his full length nude, Triumph of Truth, received the Phil Desen award for most outstanding representational painting at the Butler Institute of American Art's annual Mid Year exhibition. Samson is featured in the Summer issue. |
